Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for a five-year, USAID Early Grade Reading project in Mozambique. The project aims to help improve the reading abilities of students in Grades 1 through 4 nationwide by enhancing reading instruction, increasing parental and community engagement in support of student reading, and creating safe learning environments for reading and institute pathways to sustainability. Individuals authorized to work in Mozambique are highly encouraged to apply. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, management, or a relevant social science field
- Minimum eight years of management, supervisory, or technical experience with an education project valued at more than $50 million
- Minimum five years of experience working in the education sector in sub-Saharan Africa; experience in Mozambique preferred
- Management experience working with rural, ethno-linguistic underserved populations
- Experience and knowledge of capacity building and professional development
- Experience managing evidence-based early grade reading programming
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Portuguese required
