Chemonics seeks a chief of party for USAID's anticipated Local Government Accountability and Performance (LGAP) Activity in Malawi. This program aims to improve the performance of local governments by boosting their capacity and accountability in target districts, strengthening citizen engagement and oversight, and improving the broader national policy and systems environment for decentralization. Additionally, LGAP will assist USAID/Malawi in operationalizing its integration approach. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, public administration/policy, international development, economics, management, or a related field
  • Minimum seven years of professional experience in international development at a senior program management level, including directly supervising professional and support staff; prior chief of party experience strongly preferred
  • Thorough understanding of how to develop local government capabilities and accountability, preferably in the sub-Saharan Africa region
  • Prior financial management and operations experience on USAID or other international donor programs, including budgeting and financial management (tracking, reporting, and accounting)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluent English required
