Job Summary:
This position’s overall functions include: Identify and track proposal opportunities from government and non-government agencies and make these known to the organization for timely action. Conduct background research and assist or coordinate the development of concepts or overall project designs in response to these opportunities. For those opportunities where the organization has decided to act, write, edit, and produce competitive proposals. Write, edit, and compile monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual program reports for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- As assigned by the program development manager, serve as primary proposal writer, drafting, editing, and ensuring final production of competitive proposals for submission to donors; use writing skills to transform technical content and conceptual design into polished final proposals that are responsive to donor guidelines.
- In conjunction with program managers, write, edit and compile monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual program reports while using writing skills to transform technical content into polished final reports that are responsive to organizational and donor guidelines.
- In conjunction with program managers develop program iterative action plans in response to findings in activity and evaluation reports; compile lessons learnt to inform future program conceptualization and design.
- Conduct background research on SP focus sectors to determine trends in relevant indicators, and alignment to standard national and international strategies, sector plans and best practice.
- Support the M/E team (M&E Coordinator and project specific M&E officers) and Project managers in implementation of assessments and evaluations especially with regard to data processing, report writing and dissemination of findings.
- Provide support to the development and execution of in-country procedures to comply with
SP’s project management guidelines.
- With a generous and serving spirit assist co-workers to perform any tasks, duties, or responsibilities for the benefit of the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.

Education / Experience Needed
- University Education in a relevant field (Communication, Journalism, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Health Sciences)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in proposal writing, including conceptualizing of programs and technical writing.
- Outstanding English writing skills and strong analytical and planning skills.
- M/E training and/or experience – added advantage
Skills Required
- Proficiency in MS Office Package (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, MS PowerPoint and the Internet) and statistical software packages (Epi info / SPSS / Stata).
- Strong communication skills (technical writing, presentation and interpersonal).
- Strong analytical skills and great attention to detail.
