Ethiopia: Information Manager - P3 Amhara and Dire Dawa, Ethiopia (two vacancies)

CANADEM is seeking individuals with previous relevant experience who are fluent in English and available for an immediate deployment to Ethiopia (two vacancies one in Amhara and one in Dire Dawa) as a seconded expert with OCHA for a 6 months contract.

Post title and level: Two Information Management Officers (P3)

1. Duty Station Country and Location: Ethiopia, Amhara and Dire Dawa

2. Main tasks and duties to be executed

The Information Management Officer (P-3) will focus his/her time in field areas, supporting humanitarian operations. With the support of existing National Officers, he/she will support the humanitarian coordination with information management products at local and regional state levels, including providing support for programmatic tasks and ensuring leadership. The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

• Performs advisory and technical expertise to regional state government, UN agencies, NGOs, clusters, and other stakeholders;

• Ensure accurate and timely 3 and 4 W information, gap analysis, and other IM products to that promotes and enables coordination and decision-making;

• Provides IM capacity building support to regional state government, UN Agencies, NGOs, clusters, and other stakeholders;

• Provides data management, including organizing and maintaining GIS data, for multiple stakeholders in the absence of IM capacity in the field;

• Cartography/Info-graphics—production of high-quality maps or infographics as requested;

• Other duties as requested.

4. Specific required skills

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in GIS, graphic design, information systems or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in visualization and design with an emphasis on web and mobile technologies.

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage. Demonstrated knowledge of GIS theory and core methods including relational database design. At least 5 years of experience with ESRI GIS software, e.g. ArcGIS 10.x, ArcServer, data management and analysis toolboxes, and an ability to visualize large data sets
