About the role
The Country Director Ethiopia will lead a programme that started 25 years ago and that has been adjusting itself to a continuously changing environment ever since.
It is built on a well-established network of 23 Centres, it has expanded its reach by creating a network of 600 BlueStar clinics – one of the largest social franchises inside and outside of the MSI partnership. It operates 10 Mobile Units that, supported by recently secured funding, Marie Stopes International Ethiopia (MSIE) will lead the country-wide increased contraceptive choices by the introduction of voluntary vasectomies and tuba ligations in rural Ethiopia. MSIE also operates three maternity centres that jointly see more than 500 deliveries per month. These services are a key component in making MSIE’s Centre network independency on external funding within the next five years.
You will have the opportunity to lead MSIE through its transformation towards becoming an agile, client focussed, cost-efficient social business that delivers consistently high-quality services requires an experienced professional with strong leadership skills.
About you
We see the successful candidate bringing to the role an understanding of the development sector and an entrepreneurial approach. You will have had experience in an organisation to the scale of Marie Stopes Bangladesh, executed successful change management projects and rolled out systems in complex environments.
In addition, you will have worked challenging environments as well as designed and delivered strategic and annual business plans and income generation through donor funding, and/or commercial activities. You will have financial and reporting management experience, to include managing and improving the bottom line and the ability to generate, track and analyse management information and client data to inform management decision-making. In addition you will be a motivational leader with strong communication skills with the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders, as well as motivated to deliver tangible results for the organisation and to manage change successfully.
