The Role
To provide a clear vision, consistent message and coherent approach to gender equality at the Pan Africa level, actively contribute to identifying high impact drivers of change at the continental level, in close collaboration with staff at the IH, NO, RO and CO levels, contribute and influence policy makers on girls’ rights and gender equality. You will contribute to Plan’s global initiatives on gender equality, including, but not limited to the BIAAG and Ending Child Marriages in Africa campaigns. The job holder will engage with at least three (3) project partners, Plan COs, ROs and NOs/Donors. You will support Plan’s organizational goal of gender transformative programming and leads the implementation of the GAA Project at the pan-Africa level.
The Person
You will have In-depth knowledge of the links between gender equality, girls/children’s rights, demonstrated understanding of gender rights issues, project circle planning and management, conducting gender analysis and its application to child-rights programming in development/humanitarian programming practice. Have excellent understanding of relevant policy-making processes and institutions on gender equality, must have Strong advocacy, communications and campaigning skills especially on gender equality, girls/children’s rights.
Have a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in human rights, political science, international development, Media/Communication, a minimum of three (3) years work experience on gender equality and rights issues in NGO structures and the AU and UN human rights system, should have understanding in implementing and monitoring child rights in a national /international context, including excellent knowledge and experience of work related to the African Child Rights Charter and other human rights treaties will be an advantage.
Location: The post holder will be based in the Pan Africa office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
