Uganda: High-Impact Roles in the Uganda Health Equity Movement - Global Health Corps Uganda

Global Health Corps (GHC) is a leadership development organization focused on building the next generation of diverse, disruptive global health leaders. Founded in 2009, we competitively recruit talented professionals (ages 21-30) from a range of sectors and backgrounds and place them in high-impact roles within partner organizations -- including Clinton Health Access Initiative, Partners in Health, Planned Parenthood Global, and Government Ministries in Zambia, Rwanda, and Uganda -- working on the front lines of health equity in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the US, and Zambia. GHC is seeking fellows from a wide range of backgrounds, geographies, and expertise. Through a one-year paid fellowship program, fellows provide the expertise and leadership potential needed to fill capacity gaps in global health. Applications are open until February 2, 2016. Jobs for the 2016-2017 fellowship year run from June 2016 to July 2017.

Uganda, “the pearl of Africa,” is a fast-growing country with a diverse landscape and a largely young population. Global health issues such as HIV/AIDS and family planning access remain challenging realities despite tremendous government leadership and impressive work from civil society organizations. Global Health Corps has worked in Uganda since 2010, proudly partnering with government agencies and local organizations on the frontlines of the health equity movement to address a wide range of issues and deliver lasting impact.

Fellows receive the following benefits:

• Monthly living stipend

• Housing

• Utilities stipend

• Health insurance

• A professional development grant of $600

• A completion award of $1500

• Access to a roster of professional advisors that fellows can connect with for support on their fellowship work and graduate school or career advising

• Five multi-day trainings and retreats throughout the year, including a two-week Training Institute at Yale University in the United states to launch the fellowship, and a five-day End of Year retreat in East Africa to close out the fellowship

• Travel to and from placement site and all trainings and retreats

• Professional development and personal support from a dedicated in-country program

• Personal development and accompaniment program led by Still Harbor
